The redevelopment of Walmanyjun/Cable Beach Foreshore will transform this tourism asset into a globally recognised waterfront precinct.

KEY PRECINCTS

Precincts

There are 3 precincts recognised across the project. The Southern precinct is the subject of Stage 1 works, with construction underway. Stages 2 and 3 are the Central and Northern precincts, and they are awaiting confirmation of additional funding to commence construction in 2025.

Project Delivery and Consultation

The Shire of Broome is leading the delivery of this project, building on the successful completion of the Town Beach and Chinatown projects. Josh Byrne & Associates led the detailed design of the project, which was completed from 2021 to 2023.

A Community and Stakeholder Reference Group was established to act as a conduit to the community and provide input during the detailed design phase.

The Walmanyjun/Cable Beach Foreshore Redevelopment Community Engagement Evaluation Report summarises this extensive process and the outcomes.
