Transforming Cable Beach Foreshore into a globally recognised waterfront precinct

About the Cable Beach Foreshore Redevelopment

Cable Beach is one of Australia’s great iconic beaches. Tremendous opportunity exists for Broome and is embedded in the mythos of the beach - the possibilities for this space are in abundance.

Beyond the sunset and the camel trains there is enormous cultural, historical and environmental values which need to be respected and taken into consideration.

The redevelopment of Cable Beach Foreshore represents a golden opportunity to expand Broome’s peak season by stimulating commercial and tourism activation, and transition one of our high-quality natural assets into a global drawcard.

Elements include an amphitheatre upgrade, foreshore enhancements and landform changes. A growth in commercial and small business opportunities enhanced by the promenade development linking together points of interest and include tourism, cultural, leisure attractions, playgrounds, water play and improved community amenity to make the precinct an all year-round destination.

Based on the Cable Beach Foreshore Redevlopment Business Case, the $36.5million infrastructure project will unlock over $10 million in private sector investment and support hundreds of jobs during and post construction. The Shire of Broome has already committed over $1 million towards the project and received a Commendation from the Planning Institute Australia’s Award for Excellence for the Cable Beach Foreshore Masterplan.
